Securing Operating Systems This course is designed for system administrators and security administrators who wish to familiarize themselves with the security infrastructure of Windows 2000, Windows XP, HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, FreeBSD, or Linux operating system. Participants have the option of choosing from one of seven operating systems to receive their training on. Course Outline (for UNIX-based version):
- Day 1: Introduction, UNIX history, security policies, and overview of standard UNIX security mechanisms.
- Day 2: Authentication mechanisms: username/password, two-factor authentication, and encryption-based authentication. Introduction to cryptography.
- Day 3: Forms of attacks: authentication, buffer overflows/memory, network-based, denial of service. Viruses, trojan horses, and rootkits.
- Day 4: Administration tools: SSH, network scanners, vulnerability auditing tools, and monitoring tools.
- Day 5: Protocol security: NFS, NIS, RPC, and NTP. Application security: Apache, FTP, Sendmail, and DNS. Integrity management. Backups.
- Day 6: Logging and auditing. Incident response. Performing forensics on UNIX.

Secure Programming: Hacking 101 This exciting two-part software development training course is designed for novice to mid-level programmers. The first part of the course will go through various good security programming practices and common security errors. (input validation, buffer overflow, etc.) The second part of the course will focus on techniques employed by hackers to crack computer programs.
After completing the course programmers will be well positioned to write better code and avoid common pitfalls. They will even be able to provide some software development consulting to their peers. Duration: 6 days.
